Islamic preacher Ustaz Ebit Lew’s court trial over 11 charges, including sexual harassment, begins from September 27 to September 30. The trial will be held at the Tenom magistrate’s court in Sabah. Celebrity preacher and philanthropist is being charged for allegedly sending sexual harassment videos and obscene texts on WhatsApp to 41-year-old women between March and July 2021.

He was first charged after several women claimed that Ustaz Ebit Lew was using his religion to take advantage of them. Police opened an investigation in September last year after several alleged videos and messages linked to the preacher were found. A telegram channel was also created where videos of men masturbating and lewd text were sent.
Ustaz Ebit Lew is being charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 23 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. He will face jail time of 5 years or a fine or both if convicted. In February, Ebit Lew pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail of RM11,000-RM1,000 per charge. Popular preacher, who is well known for his social work, had rubbished the allegations against him and had called them slanderous and cruel.
The charges against Ebit Lew will be read in front of Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani. The 37-year-old is being represented by Lawyers Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, Timothy Daut, Kimberly Ye Wanchuin and Chen Wen Jye.
