UMNO deputy president Mohamad Hasan said party is looking forward to contesting on at least 42 seats out of 56 in the upcoming Johor state election. On UMNO’s corporate in Muafakat Nasional, he said Johor UMNO is keener to go solo with Barisan Nasional, however, the matter will be discussed at a special supreme council meeting soon.

Tok Mat said this today at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex. “The Johor UMNO Liaison Committee chairman and state BN chairman is keener to go it alone, so we will discuss at the central committee level and decide at the special meeting,” he said.
On Saturday, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar granted the dissolution of the assembly, making way for an election within 60 days as per the mandate.
Tok Mat said the court’s decision to order UMNO president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to enter his defence on 47 charges will not affect the party’s chances of winning.
