Russia-Ukraine War: An eleven-year-old Ukrainian gymnast, Katya Dyachenko, was killed in Russian shelling in Mariupol, her personal trainer shared the tragic news. According to media reports, Katya was died after her home in the southern port city was bombed by Russian troops. Katya’s coach Anastasia Meshchanenkova shared a photo with a young gymnast on Instagram while sharing the news. Bulgarian gymnast Iliana Raeva expressed her deep sorrow over the young gymnast’s killing.

Iliana Raeva, who is also the president of the country’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, said: “I can’t believe it… our colleague from Ukraine shared this terrible tragedy.”
The local media reported that Katya’s father was also killed in the Russian bombing while her mother and a brother were rescued after their house collapsed. Both were sustained serious injuries.
Thousands of people in Ukraine have been trapped while hundreds have been killed and millions have fled their country since Putin announced the so-called military operation in his neighbouring country.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged people across the world to come out against the Russian offensive in his country.
