Islamic preacher Ustaz Ebit Lew has been slapped with 11 offences including sexual harassment in a Circuit Court today. The 37-year-old celebrity preacher was spotted at the Circuit Court in the Tenom district office at 9 am in the presence of heavy security. Court proceedings over the 11 charges are still ongoing. Earlier in December, he was called by police over sexual harassment charges.

The case against preacher and philanthropist Ustaz Ebit Lew is being investigated for sexual harassment and 10 other charges. The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 23 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Earlier, in a statement, Ebit Lew said that he presented himself before police “as a witness to assist the investigation into allegations and gossip.”

On August 19, Ebit Lew, who is well known for his social works, was summoned by the investigation team to cooperate with the police to record evidence regarding the spread of sexual harassment videos linked to the preacher. Lew has categorically rubbished the allegations against him. He said that all the charges are slanderous and cruel against him.
