The polling for the 15th General Election has now been closed and the counting of ballots has begun. The result of 220 out of 222 parliamentary seats and 116 of the 117 state seats will be announced tonight. The Election Commission earlier said that the voter turnout reached 70% as at 4 pm.

The polling started at 7.30 in the morning in Sabah and Sarawak and at 8 am in the peninsula. While the polling for Padang Serai parliamentary seat and Tioman state seat has been postponed to December 7 after the death of a candidates in the two seats.
Due to bad weather condition in Sarawak, polling was suspended in 11 voting centres in the Baram parliamentary constituency.
