PM Ismail Sabri, Opposition Bloc To Sign MoU To Stable Govt

The Ismail Sabri-led government and the opposition bloc are expected to sign a historic pact to end the political instability in the country. The deal will be signed by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and the top leaders from the opposition party Pakatan Harapan (PH) today. The decision was made considering that this might become the country’s road to economic recovery from the pandemic.

According to the statement issued earlier by the representatives of the Government and the opposition, the agreement of understanding is supposed to be signed today. This comes after a series of negotiations between the two sides.

The memorandum will be made public as a commitment to transparency and a sense of responsibility. The agreement is supposed to restore political stability. While both sides agree to work together to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences.

Yesterday, Ismail Sabri, who took office last month after UMNO decided to withdraw support for Muhyiddin Yassin, said that his administration would implant a series of reforms to strengthen the role of parliament.

Earlier in August, he met with top opposition leaders to discuss the ongoing Covid-19 battle and also signed a joint statement pledging to “lower the political temperature.”
