Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil today said that the amendment to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) to curb personal data breaches is expected to be tabled in the Parliament by the year end. He said that several additions are being made to the draft amendment prepared by the previous government.

In a statement, Fahmi said, “We are looking at several additions on new aspects that are reasonable and applicable which can be included as well.”
He said that the amendments will also look into increasing the amount of fines or penalities against data user companies found to be misusing data to the maximum level.
