Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said that his coalition is set to contest all 28 seats in the Melaka State elections scheduled for November 20. When asked about the candidates, he said it’s not a problem as PN has many leaders and individuals eligible to become state assemblymen.

At a press conference in Bukit Gambir, Muhyiddin Yassin said that the coalition is ready to face any kind of contest, whether two, three, or four-cornered. He said Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan have also agreed to face the multi-cornered fight.
He said, “I think there’s a big possibility we will contest all seats and the 28 seats will be divided between the parties I mentioned earlier.” He further stated that although UMNO’s decision not to work with PN was expected, but he is waiting for their final stance to avoid clashes.
This comes after UMNO president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the party will not work with Bersatu in any election. Earlier this year, UMNO had decided to cut all ties with Bersatu.
Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also chairman of the National Recovery Council, expressed hope that the Election Commission will learn from Sabah State Elections and will come up with necessary standard operating procedures to control the spread of the infection.
