Pop icon Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon calls her mother a “control freak,” who has controlled her all her life. In a recent interview, the 24-year-old model opened up about the challenges she faced growing up as Madonna’s daughter and why she wanted to become independent at a young age. Lourdes said she admires Madonna for her work ethics.

Lourdes shared that she really needed to be completely independent from her mom as soon as she graduated high school to gain a sense of autonomy. She said she paid for her own college tuition and lived in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick.
“I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, ‘My kids are not going to be like this,” Leon said. Expressing her thoughts she said if parents pay for things, then it gives them leverage over you.
Leon further said that as she grew older she had come to admire Madonna’s work ethics. “How empowering to other women and ahead of her time she has always been. ” she added.
She said that she now realises the importance of empowerment and what it means to be a woman. Leon further explained that her mom is the hardest worker she has ever seen. “I didn’t inherit that, unfortunately. I inherited her control issues, but not her work ethic,” she said.
