An American Airlines flight from Miami to London on Wednesday night had to turn back over the Atlantic ocean after a passenger refused to wear a face mask during the flight. According to flight trackers, flight AAL38 was almost an hour into its journey to London’s Heathrow Airport when the incident took place. The flight was cancelled after returning and the passengers were suggested to seek other alternatives.

The flight with 129 passengers on board was sought by the police on its arrival. The passenger who had denied to follow the Covid-19 SOPs, believe to be a 40-year-old woman, was not arrested.
American Airlines also issued a statement regarding the matter, apologising to the customers who were subjected to inconvenience due to the issue. “We thank our crew for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” the Airline said in its statement.
So far, 4,290 mask related incidents have been reported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2021 alone.
