Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob reminded all Malaysians not to do cross-district or state activities during the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration. He said that country’s Covid situation is worsening thus try to avoid crossing the border. Ismail Sabri also urged the community to take heed of several cases of Covid-19 infection that occurred after cross-district and state during the last Aidilfitri celebration. Hari Raya Haji falls this week on July 20.
He stressed that even during the last Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, the standard operating procedure (SOP) did not allow cross-district and state activities.
Urging people to not cross the border, Ismail Sabri said that people must learn from the previous cases that had increased due to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, even though at that time in terms of SOP, cross-district, cross-state was still not allowed.
“If we look at cross -state cases, the cluster peaked after that (Aidilfitri). In Terengganu, for example, the whole family was infected (COVID-19) and some died. Similarly, in Kelantan, there are similar cases… so I hope (the cases) will be a lesson to us, “he said in a statement.
