Croatia Earthquake: Death Toll Climbs To Seven, No Malaysian Affected

Kuala Lumpur: At least seven people were killed after a deadly earthquake struck in Central Croatia on Wednesday. Croatia has faced its second earthquake for the last two days. Measuring the tremor at 6.3 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, it was the worst earthquake in 140 years in Croatia.

The epicenter of the quake was Central Croatia’s Petrinja town, which has suffered heavy damage, destroying several buildings and forced hundreds of people to leave their homes.

It was like a “horror” and most of the buildings have been damaged in Petrinja, said Prime Minister Davor Bozinovic.

According to local media, the tremors were also felt in capital Zagreb and Austria’s capital Vienna.

Meanwhile, Malaysian embassy in Croatia has expressed its condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the deadly earthquake. Foreign Ministry said that no Malaysian were involved in the quake.
