Prime Minister Ismail Sabri announced that the government has given the green light to Covid-19 booster shots for selected groups of individuals. In a statement, he said that once the adult population of the country is fully vaccinated, the government will roll out booster shots.

He said the first priority will be given to senior citizens, frontline health workers, individuals with multiple diseases and those working at long-term care facilities.
He said that a panel of health and medical experts is currently in the process of developing guidelines on the implementation of booster shots. He further said that the booster shots will increase the immune level. This comes after the recent data showed that the Covid-19 vaccine efficiency starts waning after some time.
Earlier today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that booster shots are expected to roll out in October. Meanwhile, PM Ismail Sabri also announced an allocation of RM47.1 million as Covid-19 Care Packages to B40 families.
